Fans of Joe Rogan were horrified to learn that the prominent “alternative” voice has sold his soul to Spotify, which is now selectively censoring episodes of his show that contain criticism of the communist Chinese regime.
The stand-up comedian, UFC announcer, and host of the Joe Rogan Experience had earlier promised that the $10 million he accepted from Spotify in exchange for platform space would not in any way impact the content of his shows. This has since, however, turned out to be a bald-faced lie.
According to reports, Spotify is refusing to host episodes of the Joe Rogan Experience that feature Alex Jones, for instance, or Bitcoin enthusiast David Seaman. Episodes featuring Gavin McInnes, Milo Yiannopoulos, Stefan Molyneux, Charles C. Johnson, Sargon of Akkad, and Owen Benjamin have likewise all been scrubbed.
One particular episode featuring Tommy Chong, a comedy icon and marijuana enthusiast, has also been removed for “unspecified reasons,” according to Shane Trejo of Big League Politics.
“This is not a good sign for those who were hoping that Rogan would be liberated from tech censorship with his new deal,” Trejo adds.
Mikhaila Peterson, the daughter of pro-Western philosopher Jordan Peterson, is also not allowed on Spotify, which is refusing to upload an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience in which she made an appearance.
“This is straight up censorship,” she tweeted, noting that “[g]etting demonetized from @youtube is one thing,” but that “this is COMPLETELY different.”
“At least they didn’t shut down my channel,” she further wrote, explaining that “@spotify is NOT uploading select @joerogan episodes including my episode.” “This is absolutely ridiculous. My episode with Joe is #1164. It is NOT on Spotify, along with some other episodes.”
Responding to the news, many Rogan fans took to Twitter, Reddit, and other platforms to express their disgust about the situation. And no, they are not disgusted at Spotify, but with Rogan for partnering up with the platform.
“This goes against his ‘we need to talk to everybody’ shtick,” one person wrote. “Im not interested in listening to curated podcasts by his employer.”
“So disappointed, Alex did not even say anything too crazy on those episodes,” wrote another. “I had Spotify premium prior to Rogan but I will probably quit my subscription just out of spite now, that will show them!”
As it turns out, Spotify itself recently partnered with a communist Chinese firm known as Tencent Holdings whose CEO, believe it or not, is an active member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). This explains why Spotify is pulling all content, including Rogan’s, that is critical of the regime.
“Anything remotely anti-CCP is getting 86’d,” one user wrote.
Several months back when Rogan first announced that he was planning to partner with Spotify, many saw this as a good thing, recognizing his hard-hitting, no-holds-barred method of conducting interviews and sharing information. The belief was that nothing would change other than Rogan gaining a larger audience.
However, now that it has become clear that Rogan is a total sellout, valuing money over values and ethics, many of his most popular fans are jumping ship – and rightfully so.
“Sadly, it appears that the globalist establishment may have neutralized another independent voice with Spotify’s takeover of the Joe Rogan Experience,” Trejo concluded soberly, adding that Rogan himself promised that “it will be the exact same show,” which we all now know was an absolute lie.
